How To Install Plaster

Our Best Substrates Are

  • Cement Stabilized Adobe brick. (consider 10/20 wire then browncoat = bulletproof adhesion)
  • Portland Cement Browncoat Stucco (10/20 wire always best under the browncoat = bulletproof adhesion)
  • Untreated Concrete block 8x8x16's (we never wire = bulletproof adhesion)
  • Unpainted or sealed concrete slumpblock.( Browncoat to eliminate flashing when it rains = bulletproof adhesion)
  • Drywall with primus basecoat, direct.(fast application)
  • Drywall with 10/20 wire then browncoat.(Nice adobe rolled curves look, bulletproof adhesion)
  • Primus over painted stucco.(fast application, no need to remove paint bulletproof adhession)

  • Our plaster absorbs into porous wall surfaces
  • These surfaces are typically exterior applications subject to extreme conditions.
  • We are an old world finish developed for Arizona's extreme climate.
  • Our integral color finish will mottle up immediately and then age faster than normal because of the clay in our mix.
  • Calcination will rundown the surface of your walls within a year creating a beautiful aged appearance.
  • The high color content of the material will, after a year or two, develop beautiful new subtle shades of the original color.

Installation

  1. Prepare surface, remove any loose dirt etc with pressure washer and or deck brush.
  2. Select wall area to plaster and calculate enough time to finish each zone completely.
  3. Be sure the plaster was prepared with drinkable fresh water, mixed thoroughly with a mechanical mixer for minimum of 10 minutes. Rinse the mixer down to the steel each time to insure color consistancy.
  4. Wet wall first then and trowel on a thin 1/16" thick base coat of plaster with the consistancy of thick brownie mix, not too runny.
  5. Wait for the area to tack up well before applying finish cover coat. (usually 30-60 minutes, don't let it completely dry!)
  6. Trowel on the finish coat about 3/8" thick and finish to 90% of the smoothness desired using good pressure.
  7. After allowing the finish to set for an hour or so mist the plaster surface with clean fresh water and hard trowel to a fine finish.
  8. Water cure the plaster for 48 - 72 hours with fresh water.  In dry, windy and very hot conditions, hose off the walls a few times a day. In normal conditions, water the plaster at least twice a day for three days.  This material will not set to a durable finish without water curing it. All warranties are not valid without a specific water cure applied to the material when freshly applied.
